All Ireland Institute for Hospice and Palliative Care

Education Fellowships 2014

In November 2014 the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) launched an Education Fellowship Fund aimed at developing the knowledge, capacity and leadership skills of those working in the palliative care communities in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Fellowships were to be short-term and focused on exploring innovative delivery mechanisms for palliative care education but not limited to the development of online and blended learning, online portals and websites, virtual learning environments or the production of videos and/or animation. The fellowships were open to individuals from clinical, education or community backgrounds who wished to develop their knowledge of innovative delivery mechanisms for palliative care education.

AIIHPC recognises that a well-educated workforce, with the knowledge and skills to adapt to a wide range of needs in a variety of settings, will enable the continuing development of on-going excellence in palliative care on the island. An important aspect to the fellowships is that successful recipients are required to share their experience and learning with both AIIHPC and their own organisation and colleagues.
