Dr Paul D’Alton, St Vincent’s University Hospital




Paul D'AltonDr Paul D’Alton is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Head and Clinical Lead of the Psycho-oncology Department within St. Vincent’s University Hospital. Paul used his fellowship award to visit the Upaya Institute in New Mexico, USA which specializes in training health care professionals in end-of-life care. Paul attended the ‘Being with Dying’ training programme which integrates Eastern and Western approaches to dealing with death through application of contemplative practices in the context of end-of-life care for health care professionals. Paul plans to use the knowledge he used as a result of his visit ti inform a number of education programmes he is planning to deliver including a seminar to the Psychological Society of Ireland’s Special Interest Group in Loss, Death & Bereavement in November 2014 and his teaching commitments at UCD and TCD with health care professionals (medical and non-medical).
