Public Awareness 2017

Success of Palliative Care Week 2017 will inform 2018

A very successful public awareness campaign was delivered though Palliative Care Week 3-9 September 2017. Key activities of the campaign are highlighted in a report on Palliative Care Week 2017 presented to AIIHPC’s Council of Partners at their meeting on 12 December 2017.

The personal stories of Evelyn, John and Claire contributed greatly to the success of the campaign. Engagement of AIIHPC partners and the palliative care sector was also key. There was a significant increase in a range of activities for Palliative Care Week 2017. This included 30 events being held across the island of Ireland, and 50 media interactions, including three TV and 13 radio interviews. More than 10,300 leaflets were distributed for information events/conferences and the campaign was endorsed by two Government Ministers. There was also a significant increase in web and social media activity.

AIIHPC will continue to build on the success of and the learning from this fourth annual Palliative Care Week campaign and preparations have already begun for 2018. More details in early 2018.
