The 2020 Programme for Government committed to publishing a new Palliative Care Policy for Adults to update the 2001 Report of the National Advisory Committee on Palliative Care. In September 2021, the Department of Health launched a public consultation to obtain the views of those who work in the field of palliative care, interested organisations and members of the public. These views are essential to shaping the development of the new Adult Palliative Care Policy. The Department of Health commissioned All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative care to analyse the findings and write the report. A total of 1652 responses were received; 68 responses were made on behalf of an organisation or representative body and 1584 were submitted by individuals. As a driver of excellence in palliative care we are proud to be part of this important process.
