Specialist Palliative Care Volunteer Managers Community of Practice
Welcome to the Specialist Palliative Care Volunteer Managers Community of Practice (CoP). This vibrant and dedicated platform is designed for volunteer managers working within the realm of palliative care across the island. Our community brings together skilled professionals who are committed to supporting and advocating for patients and their families facing life-limiting conditions.
Our CoP enables volunteer managers to collaborate, share, network and act as critical friends, staying up to date with developments and challenges which impact the quality-of-care people and those important to them receive. The CoP also aims to support and progress Strategic Objective 3: Right People, Recommendation 19, Promote and Support Volunteering in Palliative Care as per the National Adult Palliative Care Policy from the Republic of Ireland. While being mindful that the CoP includes members from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and also those who work in Children’s Palliative Care services.
By participating in regular meetings, members have the opportunity to present their work, discuss the unique challenges of volunteering in palliative care, and exchange practical solutions. These interactions are designed to foster professional growth and advance the standards of volunteering within palliative care settings. Each year two members will co-chair the CoP.
Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of how volunteering supports patient and family needs, seeking guidance on the management of volunteers, or eager to contribute to the enhancement of volunteering practices, this community is your gateway to becoming part of a collective that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Join us to be part of meaningful conversations that enhance volunteering in palliative care.
