The National Palliative Care Quality Assurance and Improvement Enablement Committee’s objective is to provide leadership and support for the implementation of a Quality Improvement (QI) enablement initiatives within specialist palliative care services within the Republic of Ireland including:
- Sharing of self-assessments, policies, audit tolls and QI resources
- Facilitation and support through workshops and online events to support specialist inpatient services together to drive forward the QI process (resourced by HSE)
- Maintaining a Shared Learning Forum on the Palliative Hub – Learning Platform that provides services with an ongoing opportunity to work collaborate and share their learning and to identify and address similar challenges on the Palliative Hub – Learning Platform
- Palliative care sector engagement with HIQA
The committee is supported by the National Clinical Programme for Palliative Care (NCPPC), the Palliative Care Strategy and Planning Directorate of the HSE and All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care.
Subgroups work to support the collection of falls and pressures areas data from specialist palliative care inpatient services to support quality improvement across the island of Ireland.
