Public Awareness

Working with partners and colleagues across the palliative care sector, AIIHPC has facilitated Palliative Care Week annually since 2014. Palliative Care Week aims to raise awareness and increase understanding of the difference palliative care can make to a person with a life-limiting illness, and to their family and carers, across the island of Ireland.

Palliative Care Week 13-19 September 2020 was delivered in the challenging context of the COVID-19 pandemic, an experience which highlighted the importance of palliative care. Key activities and impact are highlighted in the Palliative Care Week 2020 Report (link below).

To inform Palliative Care Week 2020, AIIHPC commissioned iReach to carry out a survey of public understanding of palliative care and palliative care in the context of COVID-19. Click on the links below to view the survey results:
