Public Awareness

Working with partners and colleagues across the palliative care sector, AIIHPC has been facilitating an annual Palliative Care Week since 2014. Palliative Care Week aims to raise awareness of the difference palliative care can make to a person with a life-limiting illness, their family and carers, across the island of Ireland.

To inform Palliative Care Week 2020, AIIHPC commissioned iReach to carry out a survey of the public in relation to their understanding of palliative care and to palliative care in the context of COVID-19. In July 2020, a sample population of 1000 people across the Republic of Ireland and 500 people across Northern Ireland were surveyed. The survey provides an insight into the understanding of palliative care among the populations we serve. Click on the links below to view the results:
